Why Ellie is for me

I think I know why Ellie is the best partner for me:

She pays attention to me!

This is really important for me because she will always be looking out for me.

Of course any dog will pay attention to someone, but some dogs just don't click.

It may be possible for a dog to be a psychiatric service dog without "clicking" with their handler. A person who mainly needs a dog to investigate to make sure his home isn't occupied might not need an incredibly close relationship with their dog, just an obedient one.

But a dog that pays attention is a dog that is able to respond and wants to be around a person.
